Possible Example of Lint

A possible example of lint:

Ryan Maguire's project "The Ghost in the MP3" uses sounds and images lost in compression processes to create new tracks.

Upon reading the extended process description, I am struck by the layers in the process, the many steps, like folds or seams, that produce these 'leftover' sounds. Perhaps they are able to resemble lint because they are produced by this cuff-like process.

Like lint, they alert us to a type of decay that is generally considered inevitable. How might we consider decay or deterioration alongside cuffing, cuff formation, a cuffed cuff?

  1. I love this! Is a cuffed cuff edging into pocket? And if so, what is a sound pocket?
