this video slows down the movements a bit

that the practice of playing with a yoyo is called 'throwing' --- one where it is the relation of string with shuttle, and knots as entanglements that offer an axis for pushing off (or cuffing off) from - a constraint and line of flight…. all these things… feel like a fun way of thinking with our texts on bundled lines, knots, eddies, drawing, cuff as relational movement felt more through its eddies and lint, rather then the confirmation of a certain form or turning of forces...

i don't know --- the string does the cuffing (maybe?) more  then the yoyo- even though the shape of the yoyo would suggest that there is the cuff. but the reason neither satisfies is probably because it's their dynamic relation across shifting durations, that a kind of cuffy-ness is maybe activated. but I don't know. it feels a bit like the relief (invertion) of something in the how of a becoming cuff, but not really, either.

  1. i love the interplay between the string, the yoyo and the hand- it feels like a cuff, perhaps yo-yoing is a process of mutual cuffing

  2. it seems like throwing the yo-yo is the action of cuffing without an end of becoming cuffed
